Destination Wedding + Travel Experience in Cartagena

Weddings » Cartagena de Indias

Cartagena is the most important tourist destination in Colombia and it has the first place as a destination for weddings throughout the country. These two wonderful attributes of my city will be the main theme of this post, we will explore how to combine a destination wedding and a unique travel experience in Cartagena de Indias. In this way, you will have enough elements to surprise your family and friends before, during and after your wedding.

Day 1 - Arrival in Cartagena and Night Walk

We begin this travel experience with the arrival in Cartagena, Rafael Núñez International Airport has connections with many destinations around the world, therefore, it’s truly easy to get directly to the city. The most frequent visitors to Cartagena come from the United States, Canada, Peru, and Mexico, and there are also direct flights from Europe.

I recommend you find a hotel with the help of your wedding planner where all the guests will be together, if not possible they can use several accommodations in the same area. Usually in Cartagena, for the rental of a room in a hotel for your wedding reception, you are requested a minimum of rooms for the night of the wedding or there is also the option of taking the place full house, it all depends on what you are within your budget and the number of guests you have.

Cartagena is a city with a very active and safe nightlife, so the night of your arrival in Cartagena you can go out to explore the Historic Center, eat in one of the many good restaurants in this area and then end the night in a bar so that you dance to the rhythm of the sounds of the Colombian Caribbean coast.

Day 2 - Walled City Tour and Pre-Wedding Night

During this day I recommend you to take a tour of the Walled City and the most emblematic historical places. Beginning with the colonial churches, museums full of elements of the history of Cartagena and 10 minutes from the Historic Center you will get surprised with a fortification known as the San Felipe de Barajas Castle built during the Spanish colonial era.
Also, in the streets of the Historic Center of Cartagena you will find a variety of stores of renowned Colombian designers as well as Colombian handicraft shops to enjoy.

Rehearsal Dinner or Welcome Party
If it’s within your traditions, the night before your destination wedding in Cartagena will be the perfect time for the celebration of the Rehearsal Dinner with your family, this will be the perfect space for both families to share an intimate space of union without worries.

You also have the option to use this moment to make a Welcome Party for all guests, here you can enjoy a more relaxed and informal atmosphere to share.

Day 3 - Destination Wedding

Before the wedding, it’s important to dedicate a space on the agenda for the relaxation of the bride and groom as well. In the Historic Center of Cartagena many hotels offer SPA services with relaxing massages and specialized beauty treatments to be radiant during the wedding.

The most awaited moment for all has arrived and there is nothing left but to prepare to celebrate love at a destination wedding in Cartagena.

Day 4 - Rosario Islands

After the celebration, to renew the body and mind, the plan is to spend the day in one of the majestic Rosario Islands. Only 45 minutes from Cartagena is located the Islas del Rosario archipelago consisting of 28 beautiful islands. During this day you can visit one of them, enjoy the crystal clear waters and sunbathe.

Day 5 - Return home

The time has come to return home, however, Cartagena will always be with open arms for you to relive this experience of a colonial atmosphere and the Caribbean Sea that many people catch over and over again.

We will wait for you!.
