This basilica was built in 1577, but only 84 years later it was finished. It was really worth the wait because it's an incredible construction. It can be considered one of the oldest cathedrals in America and because of its great historical, architectural and cultural value, in 1995 the cathedral was declared a national monument.
Inside, the cathedral is divided into three naves separated by admirable columns that support this construction. Currently it's being restored and no possible opening date is known.

If one of these churches is for you, getting a space in the agenda is not an easy task, since every weekend there is at least one wedding in Cartagena and these churches are at the beginning in the list of many couples.
If you definitely fell in love with one of them, I recommend you book the date at least 12 months in advance. The contribution celebrate your marriage at one of these churches is approximately 2 million Colombian pesos ($ 660 USD) which it's used to maintain its infrastructure. It will be a valuable contribution to preserve these monuments intact over the years.
